ZMG 1996 CRITERIA FOR TRAVEL FELLOWSHIP GRANTING
(condensed version)
Purpose: The ZMG society contributes towards the travel, registration and/or accommodation expenses of qualifying young ZMG members or ZMG candidate members to actively participate in scientific meetings.
1) An application should comprise the following: All the documents below should be sent to the ZMG president . a) letter describing meeting, date and foreseen expenses b) proof of registration c) abstract d) CV
2) Criteria for acceptance are: a) membership to ZMG (either active or candidate member, supervisor preferably also ZMG member) b) juniority (Ph.D. students>>junior postdocs>>senior postdocs) c) active participation (with poster or talk; exception summer schools or workshops) d) existence of proof of registration
3) Criteria for reductions are: a) previous funding of the candidate (1400 SFR threshold) b) simultaneous funding of the same research team c) precedent or multiple funding to the same research team d) direct supervisor not ZMG member
4) Criteria for rejection are: a) non compliance with points 1 and 2 b) evident attempt to cheat on any of the qualification points c) non-meeting travel (with rare exceptions) d) participation to USGEB yearly meeting is in general not sponsored (very few exceptions)
5) Our refund fees are currently: a) 300-500 SFR Swiss meetings b) 600-1000 SFR European meetings (incl. UK and Israel) c) up to 1400 SFR (normally 1000.-): overseas meeting (US, Australia, Japan etc..)
6) Modes of decision: a) the president prepares the received applications in packs of 5-15 and submits them to the attention of the committee with his (her) own recommendation. b) the committee votes or discusses the proposals. Discussion can be done by correspondence. c) the decisions are implemented by the president d) the following decisions can apply. e) the refund occurs after the meeting and upon return of the refund form duly completed and signed. f) the applicant has the right to inquire about the status of his(her) application. g) the grantee must inform the ZMG when other financing sources have become available and return refunded money that exceeds the real expenses. | ||||||||
